TESTIMONIAL – SÉANCE SYDNEY 30 MARCH 2008 To be invited to a David Thompson séance was very unexpected. However it was very welcome, as it has given me the opportunity to experience something which I never thought I would – a physical materialisation séance. Leading up to the séance, I had feelings of excitement, apprehension and dare I say it - perhaps even a little fear. Not fear of what I might encounter, or of what, or whom may materialise – but rather a fear for the medium, David Thompson. For I am all too aware of what can (and has) happen(ed) to physical materialisation mediums in the past, if there happens to be any form of disturbance in a physical materialisation séance. There are many instances documented where lights have been switched on, there has been sudden movement or grabbing / hitting of ectoplasm, has caused serious injury to the medium – and sadly in the case of my Grandmother even led to her death. These feelings made me very aware of many things, among them the responsibilities taken and shared by the members of the Circle of the Silver Cord and also, the responsibility that lies with each, and every, guest sitter that is invited to participate in these special occasions. On the evening of the séance, we arrived early to give us an opportunity to meet and talk with the members of the Circle of the silver Cord. I might add here that all of these people are very humble of the work that they do and have no airs or graces about themselves – whilst at the same time, giving each occasion of the séance the solemnity and reverence that it deserves. Prior to moving to the séance room, I was thoroughly searched and in turn either searched or was a witness to the search of each of the sitters. We then had to pass through a metal detector to ensure no metal other than spectacles or belt buckles were taken into the room. Myself and my friend, as guests were asked to make a thorough search of the séance room itself, and in particular the chair in which David Thompson would sit during the séance. This we did – diligently making sure that the chair itself was solid and secure and that it would not come apart in any way, shape or form. We next checked as the cardigan that David wears, was not only buttoned, but electrical cable ties were placed near each button through the cardigan itself thereby ensuring that it could not be undone. Then David’s wrists were strapped to the arms of the chair and again electrical cable ties were threaded through the straps to stop them being undone – David’s ankles were also strapped to the chair and finally a silk gag was placed in David’s mouth and tied very tightly. The lights were then switched off and music was played and it was not long before William, David’s guide made us aware of his presence – speaking and greeting each of the guests in turn. I shook William’s hand (which was quite large – bigger than my own) and it was warm to the touch. William’s voice was strong and clear and he spoke for some considerable time – his voice and manner of speaking, so very different from anyone else in the room. As William withdrew, music was played to lift the vibration and the trumpet which had been placed in the centre of the room was lifted and travelled around the room very fast – visible due to the luminous stripe at the end of it. It was not long before young Tim materialised to talk to us and introduce himself to each of the guests in turn and indeed shaking my hand in greeting. His very small soft hands – very much those of a young child could not have been more different from William’s. Then came a cavalcade of spirit manifestations – not only known to at least one of the guests present, but also would have been known to Spiritualists the world over – Gordon Higginson, Leslie Flint, Alan Crossley, Albert Stewart and Helen Duncan. Each of them speaking very clearly and recognisable to those who knew them when they lived on this material world. For my part, when Albert Stewart and Helen Duncan (my Grandmother) manifested, the feelings I had was amazing to me – they spoke to me not just as if they had known me all of my life (which I am sure they have kept tabs on all of the family), but that now was the time for me to become more involved with and dedicate more of my time to my mediumship and development. The feelings of love and recognition that came from Albert and my Grandmother were all to evident to me and although I have no memories of having known them on the material plane, I have missed them so very much. I will not go into much more detail as although there were others present, what was said to me was of a personal nature. Needless to say I have no doubt whatsoever that this was indeed my Grandmother – known throughout the world as one of the greatest and best known physical mediums, that gave her life, so that we might practice these natural gifts given to us without fear or malice. And Albert Stewart almost as well known as Helen and as much apart of her family as anyone could be - I look forward to many more conversations with both of them. Talking to both of them and the advice given to me has been a life changing experience - and one that I hope to live up to. Myself and my friend were then asked to check David’s bindings once again and to make sure that he was still securely strapped into the chair. This we did – noting that all of the straps were still in place and still very secure as they had been when first applied. However we also noted that David’s cardigan had been completely turned around – but all the cable ties were still in place as was the gag in David’s mouth. William then returned again to inform us that they were now going to attempt to bring David out of trance and levitate him around the room. After a few minutes to bring David back to consciousness, he was levitated and his voice could be heard quite clearly coming form near the ceiling of the room, moving around the room and then he was deposited with a loud thump back on the floor in the middle of the room. The séance closed and, once again, we were asked to inspect the straps and bindings to make sure that they were still in place, tight and intact prior to being cut from David’s wrists and the gag and ankle straps removed. All were indeed intact and very secure – the gag itself showing the marks on David’s face s to how tight it had been tied. It was such a wonderful experience and one which I will remember and treasure for a very very long time. I once again would like to thank each and every one of the members of the Circle of the Silver Cord, and especially David Thompson for what they do to help spread the word – that there is no death – only a transformation from this world to the next.
