I had the privilege recently, of sitting in one of the physical séances with David Thompson.
In summary, I would say that nothing can quite prepare one for such an experience and nothing, at least while still on the earth plane, can take its place. How could I prepare to converse with the knowledgeable and inspiring person of William Cadwell, who passed from his physical body in 1897, or to feel the physical touch of his hand on my shoulder; following which there was the definite and significant sensation of heat around my upper body?
I began by asking William about the existence of a person known as Jesus of Nazareth on the spiritual plane. He confirmed for me that there was such a person, that many sought him on passing to spirit and that he was an ordinary man - though one of much advanced spiritual and mediumistic awareness. I recall having heard and read such information in the past, but the effect of hearing it directly from one in spirit has been profound on me ever since.
Indeed, I would say that the overall effect of this close contact has been a noticeable intensifying of that inner communion with spirit, which I have for so long enjoyed. Prior to attending the séance, I had learnt from Ken Pretty, the importance of giving forth energy when involved in a séance or public spiritualist meeting, to help in raising the vibration and aiding the coming together of persons on earth and spirit planes. This has now become something I regularly do and has taken the form of a service which I can offer, not just in spiritualist activities, but in daily life generally. Such was the case too in this physical séance. I was much surprised and also encouraged, when William, without any prompting, mentioned that he had observed me doing this and that it was much appreciated.
Moving forward, I see that the overriding sense I have following these experiences, is one of the importance of living my life according to spirit teaching and principles, a life in which being of service is the predominant theme.
