My name is Neil, and I am a member of the Spiritualist Sanctuary Canning Vale. Western Australia, and have just attended a retreat with the Silvercord circle from Sydney. The retreat consisted of a workshop, trance demonstration and two seances with David Thompson the physical medium. All of the members were involved in the blacking out of the room, where the two seances were being held. this was quite a task but very enjoyable. The final inspection for this was undertaken by Chris of the Silvercord Circle on the Sunday, but all of the members could bear witness as to there being no hidden devices in the room, which seemed to take on a lovely feeling once all the light had been blocked out. I myself did not attend the workshop, but attended the trance demonstration on the Sunday evening, this being a first for me, I have listened to a CD, where David’s guide William comes through, but to actually be in the room and witness the change in Davids appearance and to hear William speak and answer questions was a really a very remarkable experience, for me it made the voice on the CD so real. On to the Monday evening, which was my turn along with my wife to take part in the seance, we were given the protocol by Chris, who explained what was about to take place, and was very informative, and gave me a calming feeling. We were then searched and a metal detector passed over us, then into the room for David to seat us, where needed for the right energy and vibrations. The cabinet was at one end and a horeshoe shape of 27 chairs placed around, it felt quite cool in the room but a wonderful atmosphere seemed to be present. Two witnesses were called upon to first search all of the Silvercord group, inspect the cabinet both inside and out, check the chair and pick out electrical ties which were going to be used to restrain David in the chair. The witnesses then used these ties on David’s hands and feet which were already being restrained by leather straps, on the chair, so as to make sure that these could not be undone. David’s cardigan was then tied through the buttons by the witnesses with the elctrical ties, a gag was made up with a scarf. This was placed in his mouth tied and again secured with the electrial ties. One of the witnesses was told to place the pliers, which would be used to free David at the end of the evening, in his pocket, and the curtain was then closed on the cabinet with David now being fully restrained inside. The white light that was used for the witnessing of the restraining was removed and replaced by a red one, while the door was sealed, this was then switched off by Chris. We were then told to hold hands and the music started playing and we all started to sing this bringing a lovely feeling in the room which was truly pitch black. The music was stopped and we could hear the ectoplasm form and then we felt the presence of the spirit and heard William had come through, and he greeted us all. I could hear his footsteps on the board infront of the cabinet, and then he said he would walk around the room and touch everybody, and we all thanked him, his hand was strong large and warm, it was such a wonderful feeling when he placed his hands on my shoulders. William then said he had to go, so more music and singing took place, until young Tim came through and asked Chris to put the trumpets in front of the cabinet, more music and then Tim made those trumpets dance around the room at such speed, it really was amazing that they could travel so fast, then come to an abrupt halt. Then Tim asked if anyone called Margaret was present, in which my wife replied yes. Tim said her Dad was coming to speak to her. How wonderful this was for my wife, even though I couldnt see her, then he asked if I was present, my wife said I was, I could hear him come from one side of the room to the other, where I was sat. I spoke to him, told him I missed him and loved him. What a wonderful and emotional feeling this left in me, with that my father-in-law said he had to go. Then a grandfather came through he spoke to his grandaughter and grandson. When he left we heard Louis Armstrong sing, then he played a mouthorgan and tap danced on the board, but then it was time for him to depart. It seemed such a short time had elapsed, I didn’t want the seance to end. As the ectoplasm returned to David we heard a loud bang, when the red light was put on we saw that the chair with David still sat in it had been placed on the board in front of the cabinet. The witnessed were then called upon to check the restraints and to use the pliers to cut through the electrical ties on his hands and feet also the scarf, when checking they noticed that Davids cardigan had been completly reversed, but still with the electrical ties through the button holes. This was my first experience, not only of a trance demonstration but attending a seance, and I cannot thank the Silvercord Circle enough letting me be part of something that has really changed me and that I will never forget. thank you, Neil.
