Below is a letter I have written and sent to my sisters and friends telling them of the experience that our group had at the Monday night seance on the 22nd September 2008 in Perth WA. I thank you all for the opportunity to attend this evening and have also sincerely thanked Christine and the committee of the Spiritualist Sanctuary for their devoted effort to bring this about. The night of the seance we were all patted down and also had a hand held scanner go over us and then we were taken into the Chapel. The Chapel is a simple room with 1 smaller level where the pulpit etc go and the rest of course is seating. The room had been completely blacked out with paper, cardboard and then sheets and sheets of black plastic until no external light was visible in the room. At the foot of the raised section is a three sided cabinet (simply 3 sheets of plywood joined together to form the cabinet) with a curtain rod and 2 curtains that just cover the front opening. We were a group of 25 people plus of course the medium and our chairs were placed in a horseshoe arrangement from either side of the cabinet. In front of the cabinet, about 5' from the opening, lying flat on the ground is another piece of board the same as the cabinet. (the idea of the cabinet is to condense the energy around the medium). We are all directed to our seats by the medium David Thompson. There is the leader of the Circle of the Silver Cord present and his wife Rosheen and also Silvana who are all members of the group. So we have 22 people of which only 2 have ever been to a physical seance before. The door is locked (and there is someone sitting outside the door also to prevent anyone entering) and then the door is covered in black plastic and heavy tape sealing it completely. Two people at random are selected to search the room, the cabinet, the chair and straps, gag and also the 3 members of the circle together with David are all physically searched. David puts on a black cardigan which is buttoned down the front. The front of the cardigan then has 6 electrical pull ties (you know the ones you put through the plastic end, pull tight and the only way to get them off is to cut them off) also joining the front together. David then is strapped into the chair which is very old framed solid timber and quite heavy. He has straps on his wrists and also on his ankles and these are pulled tight so that he only has minimal movement in his limbs. The buckles and hole which the buckle goes thru then has the electrical ties also attached and then a gag is put into David's mouth and tied at the back into a knot then an electrical tie is put thru the knot also. These electrical ties are brand new and the packages they come in are opened before they are used. Once David is in position the curtains are closed around him and the light is turned off and the bulb removed from the fitting as they use a small bedside lamp. It is pitch black and you cannot see 2 inches in front of yourself. There is a small tape player which is turned on and we all begin to sing several songs which are like their theme songs. We are asked to all join hands by Chris the circle leader and it is he who says when we can release them and when we are to hold hands again. After two songs we hear a whooshing sound and a voice well educated and strong (which we know is William’s) speaks from in front of the cabinet and welcomes us (I forget all that he says but they have recorded it and it can be heard from their web site which is: www.silvercordcircle.com.au where you will need to join as a member and they also give you a password. The joining is simply your email address and the passwords very basic. This gives access to further info than the front pages allows.) Anyway William is now with us and he can be heard clapping his hands quite loudly and also stamping his feet on the board which has been placed in front of the cabinet. All the while he is talking to us about different subjects and also answering questions from people in the circle. He then said that the power was so strong that he would do something that had only been done once before and he walked around the outside of the circle and physically touched everyone sitting in the circle on the shoulder. As this is happening we are still holdings hands nd are not allowed to move as it is very dangerous to the medium for us to touch the spirit without permission. As he touches the people they say that he is touching their shoulder, squeezing their shoulder patting their head etc. The holding of the hands is to show that no one has left his or her seats. I felt a large, very strong hand on my left shoulder and felt the fingers applying pressure one at a time and then his hand ran down the middle of my back that was above the back of the chair. All this time William is still talking to us and he acknowledges the people that he knows (from the circle group) as he goes around the circle and talking with them about things that have been going on in their lives as any human person would do. When the circle has been completed William leaves the procedure with a very loud whooshing noise as the ectoplasm is returned to David and we can release hands and sing a song again. Shortly we are asked to hold hands again as we hear the whooshing sound and a young boy with an english street accent is heard and he also laughs with a real cackle. I think he is a cockney and passed around the age of 11 on the streets. The voices of all the spirits who joined the seance this evening were all very dissimilar and with very different accents etc. They certainly did not sound like the one person putting on voices. Anyway Timmy who is the young lad works the trumpet light phenomena. They have two conical shaped cardboard trumpets which have fluorescent taping around the wide end of them. With the ectoplasmic rods from David, Timmy can move these trumpets around the room at lightning speed and stop them instantly. It was a virtual light display with these lights moving around the room and up into the rafters as it had structural beams in the ceiling of the Chapel into which these lights played. Timmy then also did a run around the circle and tapped people on the head with the trumpets (proving that they were solid) doing dances of light over the heads of sitters all the while really enjoying himself with the mischief. Once the circle was completed Timmy brought through two personal spirits the first being the father of Margaret and her husband Neil's father-in-law. They had a talk as any father greeting his family would do and once again the voice was distinct as the voice of Margaret's father (as discussed later with Margaret and Neil). Sorry they did introduce him but I have forgotten his name. Timmy had fun joshing with Christine who is our friend and mentor over various occurrences going on in her life at this time. Christine's Grandfather also came through to talk to her and her brother who also attended. You could hear quite clearly how he shuffled his feet in slippers as some old people do and it was significant to Christine and Ed as he did this all the time as he aged. As the spirits come and go there is always the whooshing sounds. Once the grandfather left us we released hands and sang a bit more and while singing What a Wonderful World by Louis Armstrong he came thru and sang with us with that gruff deep throated sound. He also spoke to us and asked for the harmonica from Chris which was placed in the room and as we all held hands again Louis played a tune on the harmonica and you could hear him tap dancing on the board in the middle of the room. When he left us and Timmy said goodbye we heard from William again briefly. Hands still held we heard a thud on the board in front of the cabinet and then after a short time Chris spoke again to David and while we all waited for him to come out of the trance all was quiet. After a short time David replied and then soon after told Chris that he could put the red light on again. When the light was on the chair and David were on the board in front of the cabinet, still fully tied and gagged to his chair. And the cardigan was on back to front with the buttons down the back still intact with the electrical ties. It takes a short time for David to adjust and all is very quiet until he leaves the room after having the gag removed from his mouth and the electrical ties which held the straps cut off. The cardigan is also removed at this stage so that anyone can look at them after David has left the room. I handled the cardigan and also checked the straps, gag etc. What a real buzz. To think that I have asked a question of someone who has been dead for over 100 years and that he answered my question and also to have been touched by this same person in full physical form is beyond simple comprehension. The light display from Timmy and his bantering and cheerful character were amazing to both see and to hear. It was an incredible experience and one that will always be a part of me. I do not think that anyone can attend such as this and not be changed forever. I am still buzzing with the experience and will never get over it.
